Upgraded, Downsides and Sidetracked

Well, we had our 5th and 6th softball games this week, and at best I had a mediocre week. The lines:

Game 5: 0-3, 0R, 0RBI — 10C, 5PO, 2E
Game 6: 1-3, 1R, 0RBI — 12C, 9PO, 0E

Tuesday’s game was probably the worst I’ve ever played. I got good contact on the ball but hit it TO someone every time. And defensively I made two big errors and one costly mental mistake. We still won, with no help from me.

Yesterday was better – I’m still not hitting well, but I had a nice, solid defensive game. I pulled several low throws out of the dirt and made a couple of plays myself. So, I’ve got my confidence back with the glove but I need to learn how to hit better than a paraplegic penguin.

In other news, I’m running on empty. I haven’t been sleeping and I’ve been busy as all hell. I’ve got 11 active projects at work, I’m helping Shari get her new website up and I’m trying to get some work done on ZeroPercentCards. But I’m not getting home until 9 p.m. every night and to be honest, I’m tapped every time my ass hits the couch. I really need this weekend to get renewed.

On the good side, I was woken up this morning by a pine warbler in our hemlock and saw a Baltimore oriole in our sycamore. I’m liking this year’s migration because we’re getting a lot more interesting species in the yard.
