My Kingdom for an Extra Day

It was a good – if busy – weekend. My boss had his 40th birthday party on Saturday, complete with 3-legged races, balloon toss, etc. I’ll have some pictures up soon (I hope). I had a good time hanging out with co-workers past and present, although Shari couldn’t make it. And it did remind me of why I hate the Schuykill – it took me over an hour to go 28 miles.

But aside from the drive, it was a good weekend:

  • Penn State won big over Buffalo (45-24). It was a pretty ugly 1st half (from what I could hear, since we can’t get the Big Ten Network here), but it seems like they turned it on in the second half. Again, the defense did most of the work allowing the first positive yardage rushing this season (58 yards). And it sounds like Jordan Norwood had a heck of a game.
  • Phillies complete their domination of the Mets. The Phillies once again tried to give away the game (I don’t think Adam Eaton could suck any more than he has the last half of the season), but pulled it out in dramatic fashion. I’m still wary of getting excited about their chances, but at least they dominated NY this season.
  • Cowboys wing big, too. Like the Nittany Lions, the ‘boys were looking stagnant for the first 30 minutes, but coming alive for the last 30.
  • Fracture and The Lookout. Shari and I watched two recent movies this weekend. Both had good acting (Anthony Hopkins and Ryan Gosling in the first, the kid from “Third Rock from the Sun” in the latter), but weren’t exactly mind-bending or hard to figure out. But they both entertained us, although I don’t think I’d watch them again.
  • Work – I got together with Van to go over the site we’ve been working on. I’m hoping to get it up this week – it’s been a long time coming, but I need to have my nights back. I really can’t undestand how he manages to do this week in and week out, but I’m glad he was there to help me with this.
  • House = housework. I even managed to get in mowing the lawn and a few small tasks that needed to be done.

Now, all I need is an extra day to get all of the OTHER stuff I want to do done. Maybe this would be a good week for a vacation day…

  • Pittsburgh also won big time over Buffalo Bills! It wasn’t a good day for those of use from Buffalo! I didn’t know anything about Penn State playing Buffalo!

  • Well, unless you went to school there, I don’t think many people really knew about it!

  • I bet you could have made the same trip in about the same time (or maybe even faster) on a bicycle. I usually average about 16-17mph, although that’s on country roads. It’d be less in urban areas.

I think it’s cool you and Van are working on a project together. I’m having a phone conference with a buddy of mine from college sometime this week about a potential project. That should be interesting …

  • Your mention of the Schuykill reminds me that I need to get my bike on the rack and go ride Kelly Drive soon before it gets too cold.
