Well, I couldn’t wait until tomorrow morning to take down the “Hello, Kitty” theme from yesterday. But Mon@rch got a good screenshot of it for those who missed it (lucky you!). I’m going to change my theme, and I doubt this is the one I’ll use, but I wanted to put something new up for now. Expect more changes soon.
Update:I added a screenshot I took yesterday.

You may have noticed that there are a few things missing in my blog. I went the update route on the WordPress engine, and there seem to be a couple of things that broke a tad. I’ll have to go fix them, but my apologies in the meantime. To make up for it, I suggest you going to watch Frank Caliendo on Letterman (Impressionist Week – it’s hysterical.

Silly Van, sending me these silly things when he should know that they can only scare the childrens… especially since like me, I can’t think of six to narrow it down to. But here goes… Continue reading

It’s been a while since I did anything different with my blog – in fact it, and my website as a whole, have been sadly disregarded for far too long. I still have a LOT to update on my website, but at least I got a few things done on this blog. I fixed my link archives page, actually got a photography page with content, updated the theme and did a few other odds and ends. I’m still trying to figure out a few things with the new theme (like why the archives page isn’t working), but I like it so far. Things I’m looking to fix/change in the “near” future:
- New Header Image
- Fix the ‘Related Entry’ piece
- Add SlideShowPro galleries
- Figure out how to get JS Lightbox to work correctly
- some formatting tweaks
I can’t even begin to say when it will happen – but hopefully a lot sooner than my last update.

Okay, I’ve been way to busy to do a lot of things, but I need to find some time to do some of those that I like to do – like this blog. I’m going to try to keep a 15-minute window to write every day, even if it’s not that interesting (is it ever?). Of course, I’m back-dating this one, so that’s not a great sign, is it?

Well, I’m going to try to upgrade to WordPress 2.0.1. I don’t know if it will work – my last two upgrades have been miserable experiences. But what the hell, let’s give it a try, right?
Wow, that worked a lot easier than I expected – I’m up and running again in only 2 hours…

I got an email yesterday from someone who wanted to know if I was interested in being interviewed for a program to be broadcast on NPR, and about letting some of my pictures be used for an article related to the show. Of course, I was somewhat excited about it, and said yet. I talked to Vanessa Bertozzi of RadioOpenSource last night, and gave her permission to use some of my pictures.
The article is part of a series they are doing on various ‘passions’ – hobbies and enthusiams that people have. In this case, it is a part of the segment Passions – Birding, about how birders go about their hobby and I assume how it is a growing activity. The part that I was involved with was a focus on Flickr, particularly the one group that I help administer Field Guide: Birds of the World. In the article which is posted, I get quoted and they used one of my pictures – I don’t know yet whether I’ll be involved in the broadcast itself.
Either way, it’s pretty cool to have someone to ask me about my birding, and have some of my pictures reach an audience outside of the Flickr community. I’ll be interested to hear the podcast (although I’ve heard some negatives already about the host).

I just went to check out Cameron Moll’s site and instead got a page saying that it isn’t there any more? Cameron – where did you go?
update: It’s back, but here’s what you got if you went earlier tonight.

Well, I’ve put most of the entries back so far, but not all of them. And I need to put comments back where I can. Sometimes, it’s just too hard to make things do just what the heck you want them to.

Once again I have upgraded. And once again, I followed the instructions given. AND ONCE AGAIN, MY DATABASE WON’T IMPORT CORRECTLY. I can’t believe that I am going to have to recreate everything… Or maybe I don’t, say screw it and start over. Sucks that my entire history would be gone … but maybe I just put it on an archive page and try to add it a little at a time.
Frickin’ WordPress.
