2007 Birding

It was a good year of birding in 2007. I got my lifelist over 300, and added 60 new species (and 9 new sub-species). The highlight of the year was our trip to the lower Rio Grande Valley, where we got to see a lot of new species and had a heck of a time to boot. Sighting-wise:

  • Harris’ Hawks mating at Santa Ana NWR.
  • seeing Aplomado Falcons back in the U.S. (Laguna Atascosa NWR)
  • seeing a pair of Least Grebes build a nest and lay an egg (Sable Palm Audubon Center)
  • Having a group of 4 Sandhill Cranes walk right up to and around me (Reifel Migratory Bird Refuge)
  • Adding 8 new raptors to my lifelist this year
  • Piping Plover and Least Tern chicks at Cape May

So, without further ado, here’s my review of 2007…

  • amazing list and high five to your trip in getting those numbers up! I know so many of these birds would also be lifers to me! Can’t wait to see what you find next year!

  • Or should I say for this year? You know what I mean!

  • i noticed you still haven’t logged the Pipsquack bird

  • Tom – Thanks: it was one of my best year’s yet of birding. And I had a lot of fun doing it!

Van – Do I even want to know where you pulled that from?

  • Wow – I just realized how badly IE messes up the numbering on this. It is supposed to be 2 columns per section (which I knew wouldn’t work in IE), but IE messes up the numbering, too. Can I just say that I HATE hacking everything for IE?
