Softball, SOFT play

Well, yesterday was our second-to-last game of the season. I’m actually kind of sad about it – I was really liking the chance to get out, even if I wasn’t doing horribly well. I need to get into the batting cages and practice more to get my skills together. Oh well, there’s always next year, right? But I had a hot-and-cold game. Hitting was okay – 2 for 2 with a run driven in, but they were two mediocre hits. My stroke in BP just isn’t translating as I keep topping the ball. In the field was worse. The first inning I misplayed a ball with 1 out, and had an error with 2 out that allowed a run to score. I straightened up in the next two innings, but it just really bugged me that I missed two routine plays.

  • That sucks about Rod Beck, what a great freakin guy he was. He was one of the few pro athletes that actually understood how great his life was. He was known for inviting fans into his mobile home to drink beers after games in the parking lot while he was making his come back with the Peoria Cubs.

  • It sucks that the season is ending … do you play any other sports to fill the gap?

  • I love volleyball, but the only league I found near me is full of guys that have been playing forever together, and was too cliquey for me. But I’ll play nearly any game, except cricket. Narcoleptics shouldn’t play cricket.
