Weekend

Well, it was a quiet weekend overall, but one where we got a lot done. I had wanted to do a birding trip on one of the the two days – preferably to Cape May, Sandy Hook NWR, Great Swamp NWR or Garrett Mt., but the weather conspired against us. First, the weather reports were fairly dismal – wet and chilly throughout, so we decided (and by ‘we’, I mean the fairweather wife) against taking a full day trip in the rain. But it turned out that both days were beautiful almost throughout the day – meaning we should have gone. Oh well. At least we got a lot doen around the house. Saturday, we got the lawn mowed, finished building our shed for the back, trimmed some trees, took the dogs for a short hike, got some errands done and filled the bird feeders. Sunday was the bigger tasks, l put up the hummingbird and oriole feeders, put up a new ornamental hose hook, installed a new fence section (the forever ongoing transition of our fence from chain-link to lattice, one section at a time), and cleaning out the garage so that we could actually walk through there and get to stuff. Actually, Shari did much of that, as I did the various other jobs around the yard and the heavy lifting when needed. But when it was finished, it was awesome – she’s a great wife.

a SIDE JOB

On the side, I started to work on a side job I got through a friend of ours. It’s a small job, which is good for my first private project in a while. It’s not that complex, but the timeline is a little tight – the whole thing needs to be delivered – user flows and wireframes through final product – by June 5th. It will mean quite a bit of work in a short period, but it will be nice to do a soup-to-nuts job again – and a nice paycheck, too.

  • Isn’t that how it always is! When they say it is going to rain, you decide not to go, then it ends up being nice! Go Figure!

  • Wow, sounds like a productive weekend. Lately, we’ve been planning (or pseudo-planning, at least figuring out what we want to do, if not when) more things than we have time for — regardless of the weather reports. Then, when the time comes, we can evaluate conditions and our energy level and decide whether to go.

  • By the way, and I feel almost baited to make this connection, but your “by ‘we’, I mean the fairweather wife” comment has a song that goes with it, courtesy of Van and myself.

    By ‘we,’ I mean you:
