My buddy Bill here at the dayjob got a MacPro and he digs it with nine shovels.

On another note, a friend in Medford Lakes just got a refurbed 24" iMac for about $300 less than the new price.

Well, I do a lot of photography and design stuff, and for that reason, Macs really do make sense. Plus, if I am going to be using Lightroom and/or Aperture, then I need some serious processing power. Of course, my wife suggested that I didn't need to get the mac-daddy Mac because I could still have/use my PC to do most of my other stuff. But those two programs alone (plus Photoshop and Illustrator) require so much processing power that it's hard to 'go light' on the machine at all.

I *hate* hard drive failures. This is a good reminder to me to backup my data, thanks. I don't do that as often as I should. I was lucky the last time a drive failed and it did it slowly, allowing me to get my data copied to a new drive before it died.

That looks like a beast of a machine you're lusting after -- no macs for me, please, but if I had to get one, I'd want it to be something like that.

Nah, I want a MacPro - here's the one I looked at, but like I said, the wife doesn't find this a suitable replacement for a 80GB SATA Hard Drive:

MacPro
Processors: Two 2.66GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon
RAM: 2GB (4 x 512MB)
Hard Drive: 250GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
Video Card: 2 x NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT 256MB
Monitor: 20" Apple Cinema Display ('cause my monitor is dying)
DVD/CD: One 16x SuperDrive
OS: Mac OS X
Software: iWork + Aperture 1.5 preinstalled

I mean is that too much to ask for? (Okay, I never said that my dreams were reasonable).
