For Sale

Well, we finally got the former rental house up for sale – after the debacle with the tenants, I didn’t have the heart to have a rental property far enough away that I couldn’t keep an eye on it. We’re going to try to do a 1031 transfer to an investment property closer to home, but we’ll see if that makes sense or not. In the meantime, we just need to get it sold – which I’m hoping happens sooner rather than later.

Shari did a fantastic job of turning the hellhole the tenants left us with into quite a nice place to live. If it weren’t for the fact that I think that tenants (any tenants) would do the place justice – and if it weren’t 1 hour, 15 minutes away – I think I could get good money for it. Instead, it should show excellently, and hopefully sell. It’s practically a new house after all of the things we had to replace, fix or just redo.

I put up a picture recently on Flickr that has been getting a lot of attention. It’s a shot of a sunrise over the lake at the house my brother-in-law’s parents just completed. The house is gorgeous and the view is pretty spectacular. Like I said to him about his future homestead, a person could get used to that view.
